Pull Compactors Regularly We recommend minimum weekly pulls for food waste (restaurants and nursing homes) and bi-weekly pulls for mixed waste (apartment buildings). Properly size your compactor and plan to have it pulled regularly to prevent pest infestation.
Cool Environment The cooler the environment the better. Many sites actually air condition their compactor rooms. If the compactor is outdoors shade will help. The cooler the environment, the less smell and pests. An average fly's life cycle is 3 times faster in hot climates than cold. That means more flies and maggots in warmer environments.
Bag Your Waste Tightly bagging waste will keep smells and pests contained. It also keeps less waste from getting behind the ram.
Keep Doors Closed This will keep smells and pests contained. Flies and other undesirable pests are attracted to smell.
Avoid pooling water or other wet areas Pooling water and other wet areas breed many pests and are sources of bad odor.

Keep Area Clutter Free Clutter attracts rodents, roaches and other pests.
Pressure Wash Entire Area Pressure waste enclosure, walls, and slab inside and out as well as compactor inside and out several times a year.
Keep Drains Clean Keep the drain clean to avoid standing water. Standing water attract many pests and bacteria.
